But other nations has lost respect in our government and that extend to the Filipino race. Some friends of mine, sent me the other week a copy of a hate letter for Filipinos by a radio announcer named ART BELL of Nevada. I was so “angry” with his degrading comments about Filipinos. We have to raise up our image and be respected again by other nations." Read More

Comments: Yes, now is the time for all Filipinos everywhere to unite and do something, no matter how little, for their country and people. Tomorrow may just be too late. We cannot afford to be further left behind. We must all work together, call or write our leaders and make them feel we care and would like to contribute and help in any way we can. God bless the Philippines!

"Hi everybody, I read the attachment about “Awareness”. I had an experience about “Backyard Gardening” that I introduced to the community during my first year of teaching in a remote barangay in the Philippines in 1968. It was successful because our Division Superintendent came to visit the small barangay to see it first hand. I was not able to continue that project when I was transferred to my home place. What I can suggest is that a special project coordinator should handle this by coordinating with the school officials in every barangay. I know this will work. I hope I can attend the meeting on October 17."

Susie Barbieri - January 23, 2005

Dear Kibaka, Thanks to your encouragements. I have already talked to my family and I am currently helping my brother put up a a small nipa hut in the middle of the field in which it has never been utilized for ages. In there, my brother will plant vegetable around, plant fruit bearing trees and raise chicken and goats. This will enable him to provide food for his family without counting much help from us once this project will be established. Hope this will encourage others living abroad to help the family left in the Philippines. It's not easy but with patience, we'll make it.

Susie Barbieri - January 24, 2005

Thank you so much for your help. So far, we are in the stage of constructing the Nipa hut and we are fencing the property with the cyclone wire. The ipil ipil is a good idea. But I was thinking of a bougainvilla of different colors. What about that? There's about more than a thousand square meters of the land area. We have put up a water pump already. I think, in about two months time, if everyhting goes fine, the Nipa hut should be finished. Then we will start the project in vegetable planting and animal raising. I will certainly get in touch with you for info and assistance.

Why Join Us: I wouldlike to help our country. I am the corporate secretary of several foundations, mostly religious, but also a foundation organized by the descendants of our national heroes. I fell duty bound to help our country in any way possible. I would like to encourage you to proceed with your objectives, help our country in times when there is very little hope for the poor, for the marginalized and the distressed because of the leadership. Many of our leaders are nothing but businessmen who converts government and country into business ventures. I will pray for your success, if there is anything we can do here, please let us share.

I'm working with a HK company, and most of the time I am in HK, I get the chance to witness the everyday lives of the Filipinos there, from DH to waitresses and waiters, to bar girls. It is really strange to see some of them, who are college graduates in our country, but decided to take those jobs. But what is strange even more, is that they seem to be happy doing them. And that is obviously because of the income, for how can you actually earn the much even if you work your heart out in our home country? Why is it that in other countries, even ordinary citizens make it big, while in ours, only the government officials, the chinese businessmen, and the current rich ones are the ones who get even richer? There is obviously something wrong with our government. And surely we citizens have plenty of work to be done  because the govenment keeps ignoring them.

Nestor De Guzman - Malaysia

Hello to all members,  !!!

I'm thankful that the heirarchy of KIBAKA - CANADA is reaching out to our senators and congressmen. But this is not enough. Many things should still be done yet. My short comments are the following: please read below -

Diligence and frugality should be practised first by our elected government leaders in running the day-to-day affairs of our country and all the state-owned, co-operatives and other enterprises. The principle of diligence and frugality should be observed in everything. This principle of economy is one of the basic principles of socialist economics. Our government should forget that economics of borrowing which they say is they learned from Harvard.

Our country was once the second largest economy in Asia, second only to Japan, but now, she is second again...but in the most corrupt now, here in Asia, if not the whole world. We are very poor now - sigh!. It will take several decades to make the Philippines prosperous again. Even then we will still have to observe the principle of diligence and frugality. But it is in the present stages that we must particularly advocate diligence and frugality and must pay special attention to the economy.

Wherever we happen to be, we must treasure our manpower and material resources, and must not take a short view and indulge in wastefulness and extravagance. One of the wasteful expenditures of our government is in its efforts of doing battles. When doing battle, it didn't seek a quick victory. It engages in a protracted battle, wishfully thinking that it is giving enough time for the enemy to come out and talk for a truce, this engagements will blunt brave minds and dampen ardor. If you want to see the real scenario, look no further, go to Mindanao.

If our armed forces is exposed to a prolonged campaign, the nation's resources will not suffice. When weapons are blunted, and ardor dampened, strength exhausted, and resources depleted, the neighboring rulers of other countries will take advantage of these complications. Then even the wisest of counsels would not be able to avert the consequences that must ensue.

I have heard of military campaigns that were clumsy but swift, but I have never seen military campaigns that were skilled but prolonged. No nation has ever benefited from prolonged warfare. Therefore, if one is not fully cognizant of the dangers inherent in doing battle, one cannot fully know the benefits of doing battle. Those skilled in doing battle do not raise troops twice, or transport provisions three times. They take equipments from home but they take provisions from the enemy. That must be our government's strategy. Then the army will be sufficient in both equipments and provisions. Our nation can be impoverished by the army when it has to supply the army at great distances. When provisions are transported at a great distances, the citizens will be impoverished. Those in proximity to the army will sell goods at high prices. When goods are expensive, the citizens' wealth will be exhausted. When their wealth is exhausted, the peasantry will be afflicted with increased taxes. When all strength has been exhausted and resources depleted, because of that internal conflict, our armed forces will become powerless to repeal an external threat of invasion.

So, where do you think we are going from here - aren't these the very wastefulness that cause  our miseries?  We are depleting the wealth and resources of our nation and the government raise higher taxation from the people, the masses. And sooner, our government will be giving away another US$12,000,000.00 to the Iraqi militants; just wait and see. Our government has just shown to those kidnappers that pinoys are the most lucrative target of kidnap-for-ransom terrorists. No wonder, we are the laughingstock of the world.

But count me in, in your membership.

Nestor

Dr. J. Mark Munoz - March 26, 2005

Hello,

Mabuhay ! This is to advise you of the recent release of a controversial Philippine book in the US entitled  Land of My Birth .” The book chronicles the socio-political and cultural challenges that confront a struggling nation - the Philippines

The book reviews have been excellent. Here are some of the comments :

Land of My Birth is certainly the most in-depth, comprehensive, and thoroughly researched treatise on the Philippines and its current state of affairs… It is powerful and moving. This book should become a required reading for all Filipinos, Filipino- Americans, and Filipinos worldwide.” (David Maguiling, Filipino-American Film Director).

Land of My Birth , by Dr. Mark Munoz, is a tour de force about what makes the Philippines tick and what ails it. Seldom have I read a book about our country that analyzes cogently and with scholastic finesse what happens when pragmatic economic demands compel a people to abandon centuries held socio-cultural values. It is a must read for our country's policy makers, the would-be-and-current overseas workers, their families and friends.  (Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel, Philippine Senator).

The contemporary challenges experienced in the Philippines are highlighted in the book.  Real stories relating to poverty, cultural degradation, diminishing role of the family, criminality and corruption, questionable governance, extensive migration, and the lack of faith – are chronicled and analyzed. The book has been described as the modern version of Jose Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere.

Land of My Birth encourages global Filipinos to look back and respond to the needs of their motherland, and offers strategies for dealing with the pain of separation from family members left back home. The book offers strategies and recommendations for dealing with the chronic problems in the Philippines .

Additional details on the book may be viewed at this website link : http://www.lulu.com/content/113574.

I am seeking your support in spreading the word to your friends through e-mail and Internet posting. The book caters to both the heart and the mind, and encourages proactive response and action. There are countless insights offered for all Filipinos. It is now time to do something for the land of our birth.

Maraming salamat, and more power to you and your organization !

 Sincerely,

 Dr. J. Mark Munoz

Thank you for your support. It looks like the book is very well aligned with the goals and aspirations of kibaka. Its almost a perfect match ! We most certainly share a vision for the Philippines . Kindly spread the word of the book's release to all kibaka members. This book will positively shape our country. I am sure you will like it. Maraming salamat at mabuhay !

Hello KIBAKA members,

I would like to know if it is possible that you conduct a conference here in Toledo in the future or maybe this Summer. I am a member of KIBAKA and I had sent flyers before in one of the get-togethers of Filipinos here in Toledo , but i still think that people will get more involve if there are representatives who will take time to talk to our fellow Filipinos here in Toledo

I was thinking of talking to our FAT (Filipino Assc. of Toledo) president Mr. Ramon Taroy, to organize a symposium that will give us an opportunity to present the goals and aspirations of KIBAKA.

– I am very much interested.

Levie Alamis and napakagandang layunin ng inyong organisayon.

 bilang "KIBAKA CHAPTER CAHIRMAN" pansamantala.

(kamatis, talong at siling labuyo, siling palay at siling amerikano)

sana po ay isa-tagalog ang "WHAT ARE THE PROPOSED FUTURE PLANS OF KIBAKA".

Comments: I have been an active youth leader during my college days in

promoting voluntary services in our community. After finishing college, I

have to start a new challenge for myself in establishing my profession,

But still it is always in my mind to serve my country and that is “patriotism”.

Now that I have myself established in my profession, I want to pursue the

Principles that I believe. Serving my country with pride and dedication. When

I found your website, I was challenge to pursue my goals in serving my country

by becoming a member of this group.

Message: If you will accept me to become a bonafide member of KIBAKA,

I will commit myself to be part in achieving the goals and objectives of the

Organization by voluntary and actively participate in disseminating the

information drive towards change, starting from my family, relatives, friends

up to my bound of reach. Hopefully I can start promoting the campaign in

Iligan City by the time I go home.
